Event Overview

The IEEE Student Branch at Clark University is bringing students together for the “IEEE ClarkHack” event, where participants will tackle real-world challenges through technology. The IEEE Student Branch hosts multiple initiatives, including research forums, tech talks by researchers and industry experts, informative sessions, and engaging events. In Spring 2025, the IEEE Student Branch at Clark University is introducing a 30+ hour-long hackathon, “IEEE ClarkHack,” aimed at fostering creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. This event will provide an immersive environment where participants can develop impactful solutions within a limited timeframe.

Location         : ASEC 202 and Tilton Hall, Clark University

The event is open to students from all departments at Clark University, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

Event Schedule:

Day 1 – Hacking – ASEC 202

·       08:00 - 09:00: Registration & Welcome – Check-in, breakfast, and networking.

·       09:00 - 09:30: Keynote Speaker – Keynote Speaker Session.

·       09:30 - 10:00: Opening Session – Briefing of theme and judging criteria.

·       10:00 - 12:00: Hacking Begins – Teams start working on projects.

·       12:00 - 13:00: Lunch – Networking lunch.

·       13:00 - 16:00: Hacking Continues.

·       16:00 - 16:15: IceBreak Event – Participate in small fun events and win prizes.

·       16:15 - 16:30: Evening Snacks.

·       16:30 - 18:00: Hacking Continues.

·       18:00 - 19:00: Dinner.

·       19:00 - 08:00 (Next Day): Overnight Hacking & Rest – Work through the night at Clark or go home as per your convenience.

 

Day 2 – Hacking – ASEC 202

·       08:00 - 09:00: Breakfast – Light meal to start the final stretch.

·       09:00 - 12:00: Final Hacking Session.

·       12:00: Submission Deadline – No submission after the deadline.

 

Day 2 – Presentations & Judging – Tilton Hall

·       12:15 - 13:15: Lunch – Sponsored by Clark Goddard Library.

·       13:15 - 13:30: Keynote Speaker – John Magee, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

·       13:30 - 14:45: Presentations & Judging – Teams present their work to judges.

·       14:45 - 15:00: Fun Games – Time for judging and fun games for participants.

·       15:00 - 15:15: Judges Remarks – Jennifer Hanselman, Associate Provost and Dean of Research.

·       15:15 - 15:30: Awards Ceremony – Winners announced, prizes distributed.

·       15:30: Conclusion Ceremony – Wrap-up, feedback, and farewells.

 

Awards & Prizes

·       Winner: Cash prize or award worth $600 (3 members x $200 each).

·       Runner-up: Cash prize or award worth $300 (3 members x $100 each).

·       2nd Runner-up: Cash prize or award worth $150 (3 members x $50 each).

 

·       Fun games and raffles: $150.

Requirements

Hackathon Theme: "AI for Smarter Campus: Optimizing Processes at Clark"

Clark University runs on countless processes, from course registration and student services to campus logistics and administrative workflows. This theme challenges participants to identify a process at Clark that could be optimized or automated using AI. Whether it’s streamlining enrollment, improving resource allocation, enhancing communication, or simplifying daily operations, your AI-powered solution should focus on making university life more efficient, convenient, and cost-effective for students, faculty, or staff. How will you use AI to transform Clark’s campus experience?

Project Submission Guidelines

Required:

1.     Presentation – Clearly explain your project, approach, and impact.

2.     GitHub Link – Share your repository with well-documented code.

Optional:

1.     Video (3-5 min) – Demonstrate your project in action.

Ensure all submissions are completed before the deadline!
